What Actually Makes Ubigi Different
Ubigi isn't a travel startup that rents capacity from a phone network. It's a brand of Transatel, a French MVNO enabler that's been running cellular connectivity since the early 2000s and is now part of NTT Group, one of the largest telecom companies in the world. That's a genuinely different pedigree from most eSIM apps on this site, and it shows up in an odd place: Ubigi also sells the SIM connectivity built into connected cars from BMW, Toyota, Jeep, Maserati, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Mini, Jaguar, and Land Rover. The travel eSIM you'd buy for a phone runs on the same underlying network infrastructure as the modem in someone's Jeep.
That doesn't automatically make Ubigi the best choice for your phone. On price it's usually the more expensive option on this site: $4 for 1GB in the US is roughly double what Airhub or RedteaGO charge for the same gigabyte. What it does buy you is a plan structure the discount-code eSIM apps don't really offer.

One-Off vs Recurring: The Detail That Actually Matters Here
Most eSIM providers only sell one thing: a fixed data bucket that expires after a set number of days. Ubigi sells that too (its "one-off" plans), but it also sells recurring plans, and the fine print on those is worth reading before you buy, not after.
A recurring monthly plan renews itself and charges your card automatically every month, and Ubigi's own help center is explicit that it can't be cancelled until you've been on it for three months minimum. A recurring annual plan is worse in one specific way: you pay the full 12 months upfront, and it cannot be cancelled or refunded during that year at all, in exchange for a fresh data allowance landing every month. Either way, whatever you don't use in a given month is gone. Ubigi doesn't roll unused data over to the next period on any plan type, one-off or recurring.
None of that makes recurring plans a bad option. If you genuinely visit the same country on a regular schedule, a monthly plan can work out cheaper than buying a fresh one-off eSIM before every trip. It's just not something you want to click into by accident thinking it's a normal one-time purchase.

What's the difference between a one-off and a recurring Ubigi plan
A one-off plan is a fixed data allowance valid for a set number of days, bought once. A recurring plan renews automatically: monthly (charged and refreshed every month, cancellable only after a 3-month minimum) or annual (paid in full upfront for 12 months of monthly refreshes, non-cancellable and non-refundable during that year).
Can I cancel a recurring Ubigi plan
A monthly plan, yes, but not until you've held it for at least 3 months. An annual plan cannot be cancelled or refunded during its 12-month term.
Does unused Ubigi data roll over
No. Whatever you don't use in a billing period is gone, whether you're on a one-off, monthly, or annual plan.
