BNEsim vs Yesim: Which eSIM Should You Buy?
Updated October 31, 2026
The Short Answer
Pick BNEsim if you know which countries you will visit but not when, and want a fixed pack that sits ready without a clock running (at a higher price for the no-expiration version). Pick Yesim if you would rather keep one pay-as-you-go balance across trips and want a code that works today. Both try to fix data expiring before you use it, but one does it per country pack and the other with a rolling balance.
The Core Difference: Fixed Packs vs. a Rolling Balance
BNEsim sells per-country and per-region data packs. Most come in two versions: a cheaper one that expires 30 days after purchase, and a pricier version of the same pack with no expiration. Buy the second kind for a country and it waits on your account until you land. You can also schedule a plan to start on a future date instead of the moment you buy it.
Yesim's "Pay & Fly" works like a prepaid balance. You buy data in dollars rather than gigabytes, priced from $1.10/GB on Yesim's own page, and the page says to "keep unused balance for the next trip." It does not spell out any expiry rule for that balance, so check the terms before you load a large amount. Yesim also sells ordinary day-based and per-GB country plans, so you are not forced into the balance model.
Snapshot
| BNEsim | Yesim | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Per-country and per-region packs, 30-day or no-expiration version | Day-based and per-GB plans, plus a Pay & Fly balance from $1.10/GB |
| Discounts | Up to 70% shown as a sale price, no code | Public codes at checkout |
| Refunds | Not covered here | Unused plans and top-ups refundable within 30 days of purchase |
| Hotspot | Not covered here | On by default, tethered data counts against your plan |
| Payment | Wider than most, including crypto | Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and others |
Yesim's refund, hotspot and payment details are from Yesim's own site in October 2026. Where a cell says "not covered here," we did not find it stated on BNEsim's public pages, so we are not guessing.
Discount Codes
- BNEsim: No code to apply. Discounts of up to 70% appear automatically as a struck-through sale price on BNEsim's own pricing pages. Full details →
- Yesim: TEE20, 20% off your first esim purchase. It is a public code, not one of ours. Full code list →
We found no promo code advertised anywhere on BNEsim's real site, so there is nothing to compare a code against. Compare BNEsim's sale price with Yesim's price after its code, not the sticker prices.
Is BNEsim or Yesim the Right Pick
Go with BNEsim if…
- You return to the same country or two on an irregular schedule and want the data to wait for you
- You want to pay with crypto or schedule a plan to start on a future date
- You prefer a sale price already applied over hunting for a code
Go with Yesim if…
- You fly often and want one balance you top up in the app trip after trip
- You want a refund option if you buy ahead and the plan goes unused
- You want a code you can use today
Two Things Worth Knowing Before You Decide
Neither is the cheapest on paper. Yesim sits in the expensive bracket for day-based plans, and BNEsim's no-expiration version costs more than its 30-day one. If you only need one trip's worth of data, Airhub or Holafly are usually the cheaper place to start.
Yesim plans are data only. There is no phone number, so calls and texts go through apps such as WhatsApp. If you want calls and SMS included for Europe, look at Orange Travel instead.

BNEsim vs Yesim FAQ
Which is cheaper, BNEsim or Yesim
It depends on the destination and the pack. BNEsim shows its discount as a sale price (up to 70% off), while Yesim starts Pay & Fly at $1.10/GB and has public codes. Compare the final price for your exact country before you buy.
Does BNEsim or Yesim data expire
BNEsim's standard packs expire 30 days after purchase, and a pricier no-expiration version is available for most. Yesim says unused Pay & Fly balance can be kept for the next trip, but it does not state an expiry rule on its page.
Can I get a refund on either one
Yesim refunds unused plans and top-ups within 30 days of purchase; used or expired plans are generally not refundable. We did not find a comparable refund policy stated on BNEsim's public pages, so read its terms before buying.
Does BNEsim or Yesim have a discount code
Yesim does: TEE20, 20% off your first esim purchase. BNEsim does not advertise one; its discounts are already applied as a sale price.
